# What is slow running?
## Explains the "Run Slow" range shown on the Operator Console speedometer and how OFS treats it as lost time.
On the **Operator Console**, you might notice a lighter shade of green on the speedometer. This light green area is the **Run Slow** range.
Running slow is a speed range below normal running. It counts as lost time, because the line isn't producing as many units as it would if it were running at full speed.
For most OFS deployments, the Run Slow range is set to 80% of rated speed.
This is the default setting, but it can be changed if it doesn't suit your production process.
To change your Run Slow range, raise a request with the [OFS Service Desk](https://ofsystems.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1/group/6/create/18).
