Update Firmware on Advantech WISE Series PLC via Direct IP

This is an article on how to update the firmware on an Advantech WISE Series PLC by accessing it directly via it's IP Address.

 

Consider reading this article to help determine the best approach for your use case.

  1. To update your WISE-4050/Lan or WISE-4051 PLC's Firmware, start by downloading the most recent firmware file from the Advantech Website.


  2. After downloading the firmware file, identify the PLC's IP Address your network.

  3. Open a web browser and navigate to "http://[Your Device IP]/config" in the address bar. This will take you to the login page where you can proceed with the next steps.

    Note: It is important that you use HTTP, as HTTPS will result in a "This site can't be reached page"


  4. To access device configuration page, use "root" as the account. The default password for the device is "00000000" (Eight Zeros).

  5. Using the navigation on the left-hand side, click on "Configuration" and then select the "Firmware" tab.


  6. In the "Firmware Upload" box, upload the firmware file that you downloaded in Step 1, and then click "Upload Firmware".


  7. A progress bar will appear whilst the firmware file is uploaded to the device. Then, the screen will display "Please wait for module restart". Please wait until the timer reaches 0, and then you should be redirected.


  8. Check that the current firmware version matches the firmware version that you uploaded. You can find this at the bottom of the "Information" page.


  9. The firmware update should now be complete.
