Why does my Report URL link not maintain filters?

Explains why a shared report link sometimes drops its filters, and how to build a link that keeps them

If you've built a report with filters applied, the filter sometimes doesn't carry over when you share the URL. This happens when the filtered option no longer exists as a column in the report.

For example, say a report has SKU as both a column and a grouping button.


If you filter to a specific SKU (e.g. excluding "no salted caramel") and then click the SKU grouping button, that removes the SKU column from the report. Because the column no longer exists, OFS can't carry the filter over into the link.


The fix: build the report and apply your filter with no groupings selected, then create the link from that state. Anyone who opens the link can still click the grouping buttons themselves to sort the report as needed.
