Operators can easily start a shift and end a shift by using the Operator Console.
Logging the start of a Shift
Note: Not all operators within the shift have to log in, usually only the shift lead logs a shift
From the Console, click the flashing red SHIFT button.
This opens up a dialog box that allows operators to select the following:
- Select the Operator Name
- Select the Crew
- Click Start
Logging out of a shift
Note: You can only end a shift once OFS has registered that the production line has stopped and is in a downtime.
When OFS has registered that the production line has stopped and is in a downtime, the End Shift button will appear.
Simply click the End Shift button to end the shift.
What if the ‘End Shift’ button disappears?
The End Shift button disappears after 90 seconds to ensure that operators are diligently ending shifts and jobs.
If the end shift button disappears, this means that a downtime reason must be allocated.
Step 1 - Select a Downtime category.
Step 2 -Select the Reason.
Step 3 - Click Set Reason.
Step 4 - Click the End Shift button.
What if there is a shift rostered on immediately after the current shift?
In this instance, the new operator lead just needs to log a shift. This will automatically end the previous shift. This is referred to as a ‘hot shift handover’.
Note: The production line does not have to stop or be in a downtime to log a new shift
Step 1 - Click the SHIFT button (Note: The shift button will NOT be flashing red).
Step 2 -Select the Operator Name.
Step 3 -Select the Crew.
Step 4 - Click Start.
