# How to create a new job data or editable field within the Console?
## This covers adding a custom metadata field to a product list in Fusion Manager, so operators can enter data into it directly from the console.
#### **Step 1 — Open the product list**
From Fusion Manager, go to **Products**.
#### **Step 2 — Edit the product list**
Tick the product list you want to add an editable field to, then click the pencil icon to edit it.
#### **Step 3 — Add a new variable**
Click **Custom Product List Data**, then **Add Variable**.
#### **Step 4 — Name the field**
Enter a name for the field. We recommend camelCase — the first word starts lowercase, and each following word starts with a capital letter. For example, a field you want displayed as "Units Per Carton" would be named `unitsPerCarton`.
This matters more than just style if you want operators to edit the field from the console: a name that contains a space can never be made client editable, so keep the name as a single unbroken word.
#### **Step 5 — Make the field editable**
If you want operators to be able to edit this field, toggle **Client Editable** on, then click **Update**.
#### **Step 6 — Export the list**
Click the **Import & Export** icon on the products list, then **Export** to get a copy of the list that now includes your new column.
#### **Step 7 — Fill in values and re-import**
Fill in a value for each product where needed, save the file, then use **Import & Export** again to **Import** it back in.
#### **Step 8 — Save your changes**
Click **Save** to save the changes.
This field will now appear on the JOB screen in the OFS Console.
Changes only display once a new job has started — they won't appear on the job that was already running when you made the change.
