What happens to historical data when I change my reason code?

What happens to historical data when you update a reason code depends on whether you keep the same reason code ID or change it.
 

Update historical data to the new name

Keep the same reason code ID. Once the name is changed, all historical and future data retains and references the new name.

Retain historical data under the old name

Change the reason code ID. From that date onward, the reason code references the new name — but all historical data keeps the old name.
