# How to change an operator name or crew that was logged incorrectly?
## If the wrong operator name or crew was selected at the start of a shift, you can correct it afterwards with the Edits Tool.
You need an **Administrator** or **Analytics User with Editor** role to use the Edits Tool. If the edit button is not there, that is why.
#### **Step 1 — Open the Events Chart**
Open it from Analytics, or from the **EVENTS** button on the Console.

The Events Chart shows up to 14 days at a time. If the shift you are after is older than the window on screen, move the date range back before going looking for it.
#### **Step 2 — Click the Edits Tool**
Click the Edits Tool button in the top right corner. The period editor opens along the bottom of the chart.
#### **Step 3 — Select the shift span and press Update**
Click the shift span you need to correct, then press **Update**.
**Step 4 — Press the pencil icon beside Operator or Crew**
Step 5 — Make the change and press OK
#### **Step 6 — Turn the Edits Tool off**
Press the Edits Tool button again to leave edit mode. This matters — the tool stays on until you turn it off.
#### **Test it**
Reopen the shift span and check that the operator and crew now read correctly. Reports grouped by crew pick up the change from here.
Every edit is recorded in the **Edit Log** against the span, with the login that made it and the time it was made, so a correction is traceable rather than silent.
